The Merlot grapes were vinified in a mixture of static and open top fermenters for up to six days on skins. Pumping over occurred eight times daily or the cap headed down with draining and returning twice daily. After pressing, a portion of the wine was matured in contact with a mixture of one to three year old French and American oak for up to nine months before being prepared for bottling. A youthful crimson red. A fresh nose displaying forest berry and dark plum with nuances of violet and hints of vanilla and cedar oak. A fruit driven wine with ripe blackberry, blackcurrant and plum flavours with hints of brown spice and mocha. The palate is fresh and lively with smooth, supple tannins which offer exceptional balance to the wine.
